Role Overview:
As a Clearance Coordinator, you will be responsible for obtaining legal rights and permissions for all the videos in assigned episodes and for the people featured within them. You will be communicating with submitters across the country to obtain necessary rights for their videos, determining contest eligibility, and determining risk and solutions for getting videos to broadcast. Along with others on the clearance team, you will be the face of the show and primary contact for all people whose videos make air. Although this is an independent contributor role, you will be part of a team that works together and supports each other. In addition to clearing for the AFV production, you will be interfacing with clip licensing companies and other television productions and ensuring AFV’s database and workflows are consistent and symbiotic across all company entities to support the company’s overall mission.
This is a full-time, Monday-Friday, hourly position and requires on-site attendance in our West Los Angeles office. This position may be eligible for healthcare insurance as well as holiday and vacation pay.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Obtain rights and completion of paperwork from submitters for all videos assigned to episodes.
2. Identify people appearing in each video
3. Meet tight clearance deadlines for various stages of an episode
4. Keeps executive producers and writers apprised of potential problems that may result in a clip not being able to be cleared.
5. Ensure all third-party content within each video is identified and, in some cases, cleared, for broadcast.
6. Obtain native-source of videos from submitters to ensure the best video quality
7. Maintain detailed records of all correspondence for each video and clearances obtained or not obtained.
8. Work with producers and production coordinator to nominate finalists in each episode and help coordinate the details of their on-camera appearance.
