David Ivory is a GRAMMY-nominated Engineer and Producer, as well as the National Trustee of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Recording Academy. He served as President of the Philadelphia Chapter from 2009 through 2011. His early engineering credits include The Roots, Erykah Badu, Common and Patti LaBelle, earning him credit as one of the founders of the “Neo-Soul” sound. Ivory’s producer credits include Patti LaBelle’s "Timeless Journey" (Island Records), Kindred The Family Soul’s "Surrender to Love" (Hidden Beach Recordings) and Philadelphia rock group Silvertide’s "American Excess" (J Records).
In addition to developing Silvertide for major label releases, Ivory was also instrumental in discovering and producing the rock band Halestorm, which he helped get signed to Atlantic Records in late 2005. He produced their first release on Atlantic entitled "One And Done."
Ivory has co-written songs on both Silvertide releases, as well as the new single from Philly soul legend Bunny Sigler, two songs on the CBS television series “Hack,” and the song “What’s the Story, Old Glory” from the Molly Hatchet album "Lightning Strikes Twice" (Columbia Records).
Some of Ivory’s latest production credits include regional rising stars The Sunset Villains and Ashley Leone, as well as international acts such as the Australian rock band Strange Karma.
Ivory is an Adjunct Professor at Montgomery County Community College, where he sits on the Communications Program Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the Advisory Committee for the Community College of Philadelphia’s Music Industry Department.
Ivory owns and operates Dylanava Studios and in-house label Flexitone Records in Gwynedd Valley, PA.
