Leland Krane is a New York based film professional with over 20 years of experience as a cinematographer, producer/shooter and director in a wide array of formats and genres. Leland has traveled extensively for projects in the US, North Africa, Europe and Australia, and is available to travel again for work. He holds both U.S. and Canadian citizenship.
Leland has occupied virtually every technical position in the film making process.. Leland has also either photographed or directed several Music videos, spots and promo. In addition to his work as a film and video professional, Leland has also taught courses in Cinematography at SUNY Purchase, New York University, and The New School for Social Research.
Leland's father, a photojournalist introduced him to the camera as a child. Leland grew up with an ever expanding interest in film and literature. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Skidmore College with a degree in Creative Writing, and then studied Film at The New School for Social Research. He then spent several years as a lighting technician on music videos, commercials, films and television projects. Working with Directors such as Marcus Nispel, Tony Kaye, Brett Ratner, Rob Coen, and DPs like Dan Shulman and Jamie Rosenberg prepared him for his role as a Cinematographer. It is this combined background in writing, on-set work and photography that motivates his career as a Cinematographer and Filmmaker-- telling stories with pictures.
