Rob is a Primetime Emmy Award nominated Director of Photography and Director with 30 years of national & international broadcast experience.
In the span of that career Rob has worked as a writer, producer, & editor, as well as a Sr. & Exec. Producer.
Rob’s Emmy nomination came for his work as the Director of Photography of the first season of “Whale Wars” for Animal Planet – a series he also produced in the field. When it premiered, this seven part series was the most watched series ever for Animal Planet and it was honored with an Academy Award for “Television with a Conscience.”
Rob has directed & shot a vast array of topically diverse television programs for 20 different US networks including, National Geographic, HISTORY, A&E, the Discovery Networks, ESPN - to name a few.
For National Geographic, Rob field produced, wrote and/or shot episodes of the “World’s Toughest Fixes” series - working as the underwater cameraman on one episode capturing the removal of a damaged 50-ton rudder from an 85-thousand ton cargo ship. Rob also shot underwater and top-side elements for Geographic's “Monster Fish” and "Dangerous Encounters" and he wrote and produced the one-hour, “Fighting Back” episode of Fight Science for National Geographic’s US and International Channels.
Internationally, Rob managed the production of programming for the national networks of Egypt & Jordan, and he has directed and shot broadcast & independent films in the Southern Ocean off Antarctica, in Australia, India, Senegal, Malawi, Mexico, Greece, the U.K., Saudi Arabia, Turkey & Central America.
