I am an outgoing, friendly, honest, punctual, intelligent, self-motivated person who is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, as long as it doesn't lead to serious / lasting bodily injury! I need to keep ALL appendages connected to my body at ALL Times. Broken bones and torn/sprain muscles / ligaments are not accepted at ANY time. In the event moderate to serious bodily damage is incurred (hang nails, one or two splinters, and 4 or 5 seconds of temporary blindness cause by staring into lights that grips strike without yelling "STRIKING!" will be free of charge), workman's comp will need to be immediately filed and my work obligations will be rendered complete. I do not "walk off" moderate to serious injuries. I have a good sense of humor (though warped at times) and like to have fun while working. I have over 20 years of experience in the Video/Film/TV Production business, mostly as a PA, moderately skilled Grip and a highly seasoned and veteran TV Studio Technician. My work has also lead to some experience with other job positions/skills such as assistant production coordinator, videographer, some rudimentary editing (Tape to Tape / Final Cut Pro First Edition / Sony Vegas Pro 12 / Sony Vegas Movie Studio 11. I'm currently learning Vegas Pro 12 on my own), craft food services, security (not licensed; I'm just a big guy that can be very intimidating), transportation, key grip (on two short films), grip (on many many TV, video and film productions), dolly grip (Danna Dolly), tape operator/video operator, teleprompter operator, assistant jib operator (building and breakdown), 1st AD for live television, video shader (when my glasses are clean...), floor manager/director, technical director (moderately skilled), audio engineer (I'm not skilled enough yet to mix live music but can mix dialogue on two or 3 mics through a full blown audio board, through a "Zoom" or Zoom-like brand digital audio recorder, and through portable analogue mixers for up to 4 channels) and A2 (setting up and testing mics and running cable). I do not consider myself an expert in any of these fields other than PA, Grip, and TV Studio Tech. But, if you are in a pinch and need help in these alternative fields that I have listed above, then I am willing to tackle the job, provided you allow me a learning (or "re-learning") curve. I am a fast learner. :) I have over 30 years working knowledge of a larger majority of Nashville and Davidson County roads and sites of interest. I am somewhat knowledgeable of smaller cities surrounding Nashville. I am PC friendly (I earned my Microsoft Certified Professional Certification in early 2001). I can drive standard cars and automatic vehicles. I am over 25 years old, carry auto insurance, and have no violations. So, I can drive most any type of vehicle, up to a large cargo / passenger vans in size (or possibly even a small grip/moving truck), that you may rent. Thanks so much for looking!
PS - I am also a moderately skilled technical director on live to tape and prerecorded programs.
Sincerely,
Ralph Owen Muir
PS- I am a moderately skilled speaker/writer/reader of Spanish. (La vaca es en la calle y es muy sabrosa despues la muerta!). ;)
I have been in the industry since 1993.

Ralph makes the best kind of grip. Even after the 11th hour, you never hear him complain and he's always ready to do anything asked of him.
