A Filmmaker's Goal
My name is Jamal Curtis Jones, and I am an independent filmmaker. Right now, I am attending The City College of New York with hopes of obtaining a Bachelors in Fine Arts Degree in Film/Video Production. I have spent the last two years in this school working towards that degree, both through my schoolwork, and through the work I do independently. With my degree, I hope to someday work in the film industry as a professional filmmaker.
I love how collaborative the movie making process is, and I am currently doing my best to meet and work with as many unique individuals such as myself. I made my first short film in my senior year, and I have been making films ever since then. Following that, my independent work consists of a few short documentaries I have filmed and edited, a short narrative film that is currently in post production, and a short screenplay which I plan to start production on. Last year, I worked on a feature film titled Desperate Endeavors as an Art Department Production Assistant, which was my first job on a professional film set. I also have several other projects which are works-in-progress with many different clients, so I 'm constantly keeping myself busy in order to learn more and hone my craft.
I am trying to become a multifaceted filmmaker who has a working knowledge of not one, but several parts of the film making process. Among my interests are directing, writing, producing, editing, photography, and sound editing and mixing. I feel a passion for all of these areas of film making, and hope to work on all of them on a professional level in the future I know I will reach my goal, because I am someone who doesn't just watch movies, but has a determined vision for making them. I hope to one day push the envelope for minorities in film, both in front of and behind the camera, and help diversify the industry with the work I do. Please consider me, so my dream can be just one step closer to reality.
Thank You
Sincerely Yours,
Jamal Curtis Jones
