To Whom It May Concern,
I am a professional looking for work in television production. I am sending you this cover letter and resume applying for a position as a Production Assistant.
I believe that I can offer you the skills and the reliability that you will need to make your production the best that it can possibly be.
I have worked as a editor for my academic degree, and post as always been my passion in production. I am bilingual in Spanish, have strong organizational skills, can make any deadline, and am able to work well under pressure.
My prior work experience has been in editing, research, script writing, screening, field production, and talent.
I have over a year of professional experience at MTV Networks working as a production assistant on "Vh1's Top Twenty Video Countdown". In that position I was challenged with the responsibility of maintaining and formulating content for the show on a weekly basis.
During that time I was also a camera operator for the test pilot of the "Jersey Shore" series. I was assigned to record Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino. He was the only test subject that made it on the series. Some of the footage that my partner and I shot actually made the first episode.
I've earned a degree in Film and Television at Hofstra University. During my education I learned to operate cameras for studio and remote production. During my television production courses I was the main editor. I became proficient at using Non-Linear editing systems such as "Avid Xpress Pro" and "Final Cut Pro". I've also learned to operate VTR’s, and related equipment for remote and studio productions. I was one of the only editors working on "Avid" to edit my final project piece, so I became very familiar with the software.
During my time at VH1, I took on certain responsibilities that helped streamline the weekly tasks of the operations at hand. I also helped to cut cost by implementing various production suggestions; for example, renting the proper decks for loading various tape formats rather than pay fees for a conversion process.
In all my endeavors I have shown all the traits that you've requested; such as drive to succeed and problem solving skills. I always wanted to pursue the niche of post production. I remember sitting in front of a avid as if it was my canvas, and I would not realize the hours that I would spend in front of it.
My experience with Final Cut Pro came during a internship at I.S.I.S/Turn of the Century Productions. This was a small production company headed by Etienne Sauret. I have edited some commercial trailers featuring "Red Dress" Heart Disease awareness for fashion week. Mr. Sauret was so impressed that he posted the video on his website. I put this video on my YouTube page.
My extracurricular activities have given me a strong work ethic that has earned compliments from my producers and colleagues. I've had no problems sacrificing my time to make sure that the work that needed to get done was accomplished to best of my ability. I am a strong learner, and I enjoy finding ways to improve on the tasks at hand.
I feel that my greatest strength is the drive for progression. I was never comfortable with complacency. I look forward to doing the best work for you, and to make a name for myself as a person that helps to make any team or project better.
In my experience, I've realized that the chemistry of a team takes precedence over the talent of its members.
I hope to hear from you soon.
