Electro-acoustic artist Harry Shaffer, aka Uzi Ernst, started composing pieces for the synthesizer at age 13, and completed his first collection of electronic works, titled Yagei Kuragei, when he was 19. Developing an interest in the music of Indonesia, Harry became fascinated by the exotic tuning systems used, and began employing microtonality in his own music.
