Hello,
My name is John Aaron Putnam and I am a feature editor.
To give you a brief overview of my skill set - I have been working in the Film and Video industry for 15 years, having participated in the production of a large range of projects, including feature film post production, corporate instructional and commercial documentary. For the last 8 years I’ve been editing and sound designing feature films and commercials in Asheville NC. I have worked with large production companies such as MarVista Entertainment and Swirl Films, as well as a handful of indie productions. Though my main skills are editing and sound design, I have experience in mixing/mastering, VFX, and color correction.
During my time in this field I have gained experience with a large variety of software including Davinci Resolve, Fairlight, Final Cut Studio, Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Blender 3D. I have collaborated with sound engineers, music composers, visual effects artists to compile highly professional audio visual products. I have passed quality control for Group A media platforms on multiple projects.
I am a 2009 graduate of Western Carolina University with a BFA in Digital Motion Picture and Television Production. As a student I learned the importance of interpreting the spine of a scene by identifying its thematic elements, and the use of pacing and sound to find the most impactful configuration of the film. My eclectic love for movies of all genres has contributed to my adaptable style as an editor.
