Deb Garcia is a Cuban-born visual artist and filmmaker whose work engages various technical skills in the areas of traditional art, language, and digital media. Her work can be described as the exploration and dissection of our contemporary process through the blending of digital mediums. Much like the ambiguity involved in the subjects of traditional art, subjects that demand no accurate syntax, right/wrong answers; Garcia’s work prides itself in the flow of visual interdisciplinary practices.

Since her early years, Garcia was exposed to every form of art in the great stimulant city of Vedado in Havana Cuba. It was in this beautiful city that she developed her taste for line and color. Growing up in a suppressed environment governed by one of the greatest dictators of our century, at age 11, Deborah embarked on a one-year journey to the land of opportunity; United States of America.

Excelling beyond expectations in all forms of visual arts at an early age, Deborah fully committed these embedded cultural elements into her future, work and research. By 23, she obtained her Bachelor’s from Florida Atlantic University with a concentration in Film and Digital Media. Garcia is now based in New York and Miami, where she works as a video producer and editor for the New York Times Company. Garcia has also worked in music video and commercial freelance production for companies like Verizon, Citi Bank, AT&T and Omega.
