About Me

Member Since 2012 | Views: 391

I'm an award-winning writer and reporter with a knack for assembling and editing well-researched, engaging stories for print and digital media. I love using detailed images and a strong sense of story to entice, captivate, inform and entertain viewers and readers.

Currently self-employed, I worked on The Tampa Tribune’s multi-level news team, providing content for the Tribune, TBO.com, and the parent company’s television station, News Channel 8 (WFLA-TV). I was a founding member of APBNews.com, an Internet-based news organization that broke new ground in the 1990s by covering crime, justice and safety online nationwide. Plus, I've spoken at the 2002 convention of the Association for Education in Journalism in Mass Communication and the 2008 convention of Investigative Reporters and Editors Inc.

But my interests go beyond crime. My freelance work has appeared in mass-market publications such as Ladies’ Home Journal and Time Out New York, as well as noted online outlets such as Poynter.org and Word & Film. I also enjoy working in digital media. I wrote an e-book on Season 1 of the groundbreaking TV series The Closer. I also wrote the screenplay for a short film, "April Fools," and wrote, edited, produced, and directed a short film, "The Guardian." In addition, I meet with fellow writers monthly as part of the screenwriting education and script analysis group Screenwriters of Tomorrow.
