Steve Staley has worked in the motion picture and television production industry for over 38 years. Starting as a camera operator and editor, and having been fortunate enough to work with some of the top DP’s and gaffers in the business, Steve quickly found that lighting and top of the line cameras were a key to the success of an image for his clients. So in 1989, he began putting together his own lighting packages to use in his contracted productions. In 1995 with a partner, Morgan Atkinson, he began purchasing camera packages. From these acquisitions, Kentucky Grip and Lighting has grown from a lighting package in a van to the multi-truck, multi-camera rental operation it is today.
In December of 2008, Cabin Hill Communications, Inc., the parent corporation of Kentucky Grip and Lighting moved into The Studios at Production Commons, another addition to the production infrastructure for the State of Kentucky and a natural complement to the thriving grip and lighting business that Steve and his wife, Nikki have been building.
