About Me
Member Since 2013 | Views: 339
With seven years of broadcasting experience under my belt, I have a passion for telling good stories through strong writing and producing. Specializing in feature and long form programming, I’m a three-time Emmy Award nominee, as well as a Telly Award winner.
I began my career working in the fast paced television newsroom of the CBS affiliate in Charleston-Huntington, WV. After producing live evening newscasts there for two years, I moved to Columbus to take a position as a news producer at The Ohio News Network (ONN). While I reveled in keeping up with the changing demands of the news consumer, it was my most recent position as ONN’s Coordinating Producer that helped fine tune my storytelling abilities, hone my knowledge of the business world, and define me as a confident, multitasking leader in the office.
Until the station’s closure in late 2012, I produced and wrote many series simultaneously, focusing on topics such as travel and tourism, area businesses and corporations, cooking and cuisine, and academic challenges. I also took on sole producing and writing duties for several multi camera special projects. From strapping a small Go Pro camera on my chest and white water rafting in frigid water, to hauling production gear through rugged terrain in 100-degree temperatures, as a field producer I’ll stop at nothing to get the perfect camera shots and sound bites. More importantly, my frequent work in the field has allowed me to speak with people from all walks of life and find out what’s important to them as consumers.
Throughout my tenure as ONN’s Coordinating Producer, I helped bridge the gap between the station’s Sales Department and Production Department, working closely with Sales on dozens of revenue based projects. I met with clients to help fine tune their visions, as well as generated ideas for new programming and sales pitches. I’ve been lucky enough to work on projects for a number of amazing local and national companies, including the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Marathon Oil, Westfield Insurance, West Virginia Division of Tourism, National Marrow Donor Program, COSI, and the Ohio State Fair.
From fashion to outdoor adventures, beekeeping to bookbinding, my diverse hobbies make me knowledgeable in many different areas. When not at work, I can be found walking my French bulldog Zelda.
My producing/writing reel can be found on my website at www.missashleyhill.com. Writing samples are available upon request. While my previous work experience is in broadcast television, I have many transferable skills that would be great for a number of creative and communication-based careers. I’d love the opportunity to discuss them with you.
Best Wishes,
