I am a VFX artist from Philadelphia Pennsylvanian specializing in compositing and lighting.

1. Pyrolysis - Hand
Responsible for: Lighting, Rendering, Tracking, Compositing, On Set Supervision
Software Used: Maya, PFTrack, Nuke, Mentalray, Photoshop
In This shot I was responsible to lighting using an HDRI Panoramic image. I also needed to remove the actors original hand, track in our CG hand, and then integrate into our plate. I also combined the effect and the hand using a control map created by another member of the team
2. The Invasion
Responsible for: All elements
Software Used: PFTrack, Maya, Nuke, Mentalray, Photoshop
For this project I needed to place a spacecraft over the city. To do this I shot the original plate then tracked the camera using PF track. I was sure to roto mask elements like the girl so that only static elements were used in the 3D track. I then brought the Animated camera into Maya and rendered out the spaceship. I used a depth map to control the haze on the ship.
3. Pyrolysis - Wing Extend
Responsible for: Lighting, Rendering, Tracking, Compositing, On Set Supervision
Software Used: Maya, PFTrack, Nuke, Mentalray, Photoshop
For this shot we first shot a clean plate of just the table without our actor. We then shot it again with out actor. Once we had these elements I was able to remove the actor's torso from the plate and replace it with our gargoyle's torso. Like the hard shot HDRIs were gathered on set.

4. Train Tracks
Responsible for: All Elements
Software Used: Houdini
To explore Houdini's procedural workflow I created a train track generator. With the tool you are able to control the track using a control curve. You can also adjust the amount of trusses and the distance between the tracks. It works by creating two parallel curves based on the control curve and then sweets the track geometry along it. To create the trusses the original control curve is re-sampled and the trusses are copied along it. You can use the setting on the re-sample to control the amount of trusses along the track.
5. Viper Crash
Responsible for: All Elements
Software Used: Maya, Nuke, Photoshop
For this exercise I wanted to explore digital painting and particle instancing in Maya. I first created the geometry for the terrain and then painted over it.
6. Tower Explode
Responsible for: All Elements
Software Used: Houdini, 123D Catch
For this exercise I explored the voronoi fracturing tools in Houdini. I first generated the geometry for the building using photogrammetry. Once the building was modeled I used and attribute I named sizeDensity to control a scatter through the volume of the geometry. I then used those point to fracture the building.
7. Slum Shot
Responsible for: All Elements
Software Used: Houdini
For this last exercise I wanted to explore creating large scale environments in Houdini. I modeled two buildings then used painted attributes to control the layout of this slum. The scale, rotation, and building type are randomized.
